Bronx Community College

Gould Memorial Library, Sedgwick Avenue and Hall of Fame Terrace, Bronx, New York

 

The domed architectural masterpiece on the campus of Bronx Community College was designed by legendary architect Stanford White for NYU and was completed in 1899. Under the dome is the stunning main reading room and beneath that is the newly renovated auditorium. Concertgoers who arrive early can take time to see the main reading room. Arrive very early and you can also visit the Hall of Fame of Great Americans—the remarkable 630-foot colonnade lined with 98 statues. Parking is available on campus. From Long Island: Throgs Neck Bridge to Cross Bronx Expressway. Follow signs for George Washington Bridge. From the Henry Hudson Parkway North or South exit at Mosholu Parkway.  At the 2nd traffic light turn right. Continue 2 traffic lights to 205th Street.  Make a right.  The school is down the block on the right hand side.

From the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) North or South exit at Van Cortlandt Park South. Turn left at the traffic light.  Proceed up the hill 2 traffic lights to Sedgwick Avenue and make a left. Stay in the right lane to Goulden Avenue and make a right. Turn left at 205th Street. The school is on the left hand side.

By Express Bus

The #4A Liberty Lines express bus runs along Madison Avenue in Manhattan.  Get off at Paul Avenue in the Bronx.

By Bus

Take the Bx 1 or Bx2 bus to West 205th Street and the Grand Concourse.  Walk 3 blocks west.  The school is on the right hand side.

Take the Bx 10 or Bx 22 bus to Goulden Avenue and 205th Street.  Walk 1 block west.  The school is on the right hand side.

Take the #4 train to Bedford Park Boulevard (leaves you at Bedford and Jerome).  Walk north along Jerome Avenue to W. 205th Street, then turn left and walk a block west (toward the reservoir).  The entrance to the school is on W. 205th Street between Goulden and Paul Avenues.

This vibrant community center on Pelham Parkway is a cultural, athletic and educational resource for area residents of all ages. Hundreds of students study music and dance in the Bronx House Performing Arts School. The Bronx Symphony Orchestra’s last performance in the Bronx House was in 1997. During the intervening years, the building has undergone a thorough renovation.

Many Bronx bus lines intersect with the City Line #7 and #10 bus lines.  Take the #7 or #10 bus north and it will leave you at the campus gate on Riverdale Avenue at 263rd Street.

From the Pelham Parkway West Outer Roadway, make a right onto Bronxwood Avenue.  Go 1 long block and make a right onto Astor Avenue.  The school is on the left hand side.

Take Eastchester Road or Williamsbridge Road to Astor Avenue.   If you're coming from the north, make a right onto Astor; if you're coming from the south, make a left onto Astor.  Travel west to the school.  The school is on the right hand side of Astor Avenue, about 3/4 mile from Eastchester Road and 2 blocks from Williamsbridge Road.

D Train: Use the last car, Get off at Bedford Park Boulevard, leave station through the underpass exit and turn right. Continue west on Bedford Pk Blvd, past Jerome Avenue, across bridge. Turn left onto Lehman College campus. Continue down road to the theatre building (the building before the old stone building). Walk down steps, through double doors, and go up the spiral staircase.

4 Train: Take to Bedford Park Blvd. Turn left as you exit station, proceed across bridge. Turn left onto Lehman College campus. Continue down road to the theatre building (the building before the old stone building). Walk down steps, through double doors, and go up the spiral staircase.

 

By Car

Deegan Expressway: (from north or south) Exit Van Cortlandt Park So. Turn left at the light, follow road up hill (at top of hill you will bear left, just follow the signs to Lehman). Make first right onto Goulden Avenue (immediately after sign for Dickenson). After going through 2 lights (Bedford Pk. Blvd), a parking lot will be on your right. Park and enter the college, walking straight toward the Speech and Theatre building. Lovinger Theatre is at the top of the spiral staircase.

Broadway (heading north): Turn right after B'way bridge onto 225th, cross over the Deegan Expressway, and turn left onto Bailey Avenue, follow to end, right onto Van Cortlandt Park. Follow road up hill (at top of hill you will bear left, just follow the signs). Make first right onto Goulden Avenue (immediately after sign for Dickenson). After going through 2 lights (Bedford Pk. Blvd.), a parking lot will be on your right. Park and enter the college, walking straight toward the Speech and Theatre building. Lovinger Theatre is at the top of the spiral staircase.

Henry Hudson Pkwy ($1.75 toll) or Saw Mill River Pkwy: Mosholu Pkwy Exit. Continue down Mosholu Pkwy; it becomes a city street. Turn right at the traffic light BEFORE the big stone overpass, onto Paul Avenue (Tracey Towers will be on your left after you turn), and proceed onto Paul Avenue which brings you to the Paul Ave. campus gate. If there is parking on the street, park and follow the campus road to the Theatre Building (2nd Bldg). Entrance to the Lovinger theatre is at the top of the spiral staircase. If there is no parking at the Paul Avenue entrance, head west (right turn) on Bedford Pk Blvd, and make a left onto Goulden Ave. A parking lot will be on your right. Park and enter the college, walking straight toward the Speech and Theatre building. Lovinger Theatre is at the top of the spiral staircase.

 

 

 

 

 

Morris High School

Boston Road and 166th Street,

The Morris High School Auditorium can be entered directly from the parking lot, which is on the east side of Boston Road near 167th Street.

From Manhattan:  Take the Willis Avenue Bridge from Manhattan.   Stay in the left lanes on the bridge and proceed straight off the bridge onto Willis Avenue.  At 149th Street, Willis Avenue merges with 3rd Avenue.  Continue on 3rd Avenue.  Make a right turn at the first light after the intersection with 163rd Street onto Boston Road.  Proceed up the hill.  You'll see Morris High School on your right at 166th Street.  Pass the school on Boston Road and pull into the lot behind the school.

From the Cross Bronx Expressway (95):   Eastbound exit at Webster Avenue.  Westbound exit at 3rd Avenue.  Proceed south on either Webster or 3rd Avenue to 168th Street.  Make a left on 168th Street and proceed up the hill to Boston Road.  Make a right on Boston Road, then make a left a block later into the Morris High School parking lot.

Take the Bx 21 bus on Boston Road to Morris High School at 166th Street.

By Subway

Take the #2 or #5 train to 174th Street.  Transfer to the Bx 21 bus on Boston Road, right next to the stairs to the downtown side of the station.  Take the bus to Morris High School at 166th Street.

Take 278 East (Bruckner Expressway) to the Castle Hill Avenue/White Plains Road exit.  Cross the traffic light and stay on the service road.  Go 1 block and make a right turn.  This is Pugsley Avenue.  (A pedestrian overpass across the Bruckner will be on your left hand side.)  Go down to the next traffic light; that is Lafayette Avenue.  Stevenson High School is on the right hand side.

Take 95 East (Cross Bronx Expressway) to exit 5B, Castle Hill Avenue.  Make a right at the light.  Go down to Lafayette Avenue and make a right.  Drive down 2 blocks and cross Pugsley Avenue.  School is on the left side.

Take the Bronx River Parkway South to the very end (Story Avenue).  Make a left.  Make a right at the next light and go 1 block down to Lafayette Avenue and make a left.  Follow Lafayette Avenue and cross White Plains Road.  Continue 2 blocks east to Lafayette and Pugsley Avenue. School is on the right hand side.

By Auto

From the Henry Hudson Parkway North or South exit at Mosholu Parkway.  At the 2nd traffic light turn right. Continue 2 traffic lights to 205th Street and make a right.  At Goulden Avenue (the reservoir) make a left and go two blocks.  The school is on the left, just past Lehman College.

From the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) North or South exit at Van Cortlandt Park South. Turn left at the traffic light.  Proceed up the hill 2 traffic lights to Sedgwick Avenue and make a left. Stay in the right lane to Goulden Avenue and make a right. Continue on Goulden 3 long blocks, past Bedford Park Blvd. and Lehman College.  The school is on the left hand side just past the College.

By Bus

Stopping within two blocks of Walton HS are the Bx 3, 9, 22, 28, and 32 buses.
 

By Subway

Take the #4 train to Kingsbridge Road (leaves you at Kingsbridge Rd. and Jerome Ave.).  Walk one short block north along Jerome Avenue (past the Armory), turn left onto W. 195th Street, then turn right at the corner.  The entrance to the school is on the right.
